Writing is Like an X-Ray
Okay, sure, I am trying to find at least one title for each letter of the alphabet for my Writing Is… series of articles, and X starts the word X-ray. But the word really is applicable to writers and the writing process.
X-rays see through the outer shell of the body, the skin, to photograph the bones and organs within. In terms of writing, the writer looks beyond the surface layer of words and images, propaganda and garbage, to see the guts of the topic.
Why Writers Need Editors
As you know, the written word can be extremely powerful. Whether or not English is your mother tongue, writing clearly and correctly is essential if you want your business texts or academic essays to be taken seriously by those who read them. Using the English language correctly and effectively can help you acquire new clients or keep old ones, gain higher grades and progress further in your career. Sloppy English diminishes the readability of your work, and the content and meaning is easily mislaid among badly chosen words or poor grammar.
The English language is vast, which makes it both marvellously expressive and challenging. It is crucial that you make the best impact by using the right words and properly constructing sentences in order to clearly communicate your ideas and aims. This can be a tricky task, especially with the most important documents. The help of an experienced, professional editor and proofreader can, therefore, make all the difference to your work.
How to Start Writing
Many people want to write, nevertheless they are confused to get started. There are two ways to start writing.
1. Learning theories of writing then practicing
2. Learning the hard way or writing first then theories follow
Which one are comfortable counts on us. However, grounded on the experiences of friends in India whose writings are largely publicized in mass media, the second alternative seems to be better. Rizqon Khamani, Zamhasari Jamil, A. Qisai, Tasar Karimuddin, Beben Mulyadi, Jusman Masga, Irwansyah an so forth learn to write by directly sending their writings, not by learning the theories of writing first.
